In Morocco, squid—locally known as calmar—is highly valued for its tender texture and naturally sweet flavor, harvested from the rich Atlantic waters. It's a nutritious seafood, high in protein and essential amino acids important for muscle development and repair. It also provides vital nutrients such as vitamin B12, selenium, and phosphorus.
Culinarily, Moroccan squid is incredibly versatile, featured in dishes such as grilled specialties, tagines, and seafood stews—each reflecting the country's diverse gastronomic heritage. Low in fat and calories, and rich in omega-3 fatty acids, it supports heart health and fits well into balanced diets and weight management plans. Whether enjoyed fresh along the coast or as part of a traditional meal, Moroccan squid delivers both exceptional taste and nutritional value.
